Nairobi, 18th October 2024 – On October 2nd and 3rd, U.S. Trade and Development Agency, in collaboration with TDB Group, hosted the U.S.-Africa Public Private Partnerships for Infrastructure Workshop at TDB Tower, TDB Group’s Nairobi Operations Hub.
Aimed at fostering dynamic discussions around public private partnership (PPP) priorities, expectations, and limitations, the programme examined the current landscape, ways to improve PPP structuring, as well as relevant case studies.
TDB Group President and Managing Director Mr. Tadesse and Ms. Heather K. Lanigan, U.S. Trade and Development Agency Regional Director for Sub-Saharan Africa opened the event, in the presence of Ambassador Margaret Whitman, United States Ambassador to Kenya, His Excellency Neil Wigan OBE, British High Commissioner to Kenya, His Excellency Ambassador Okaniwa Ken, Japan’s Ambassador to Kenya, as well as several dignitaries.
More than 250 PPP stakeholders from government, industry, financial institutions, impact investors, and philanthropic organizations participated in technical sessions covering several key topics related to infrastructure PPPs. These included among others early-stage financing, enabling regulatory environments, PPP strategies and implementation models, risk mitigation mechanisms, advisory support and technical assistance, and more.

As part of these excellent relationships, the Bank signed a memorandum of understanding with USTDA in 2021 with the purpose of advancing cooperation in select economic sectors between U.S. private sector and TDB Member States.
