THE EASTERN AND SOUTHERN AFRICAN TRADE AND DEVELOPMENT BANK GROUP DELIVERS CAPACITY BUILDING TRAINING TO COMMERCIAL BANKS IN ETHIOPIA ON RISK MANAGEMENT

Addis Ababa, 26th September 2023 – The Eastern and Southern African Trade and Development Bank Group (TDB Group), through its TDB Academy, organized a three-day training from 23rd– 25th August 2023 on risk management for commercial banks in Ethiopia to enhance their capacity on risk management.
The training brought together key stakeholders and mid and senior-level risk management officers from 14 Ethiopian commercial banks and a sovereign fund. The training equipped participants essential tools and strategies to navigate the evolving risk landscape effectively. With a strong focus on knowledge exchange and collaboration, the training fostered a deeper understanding of risk management practices tailored to the unique challenges and opportunities faced by Ethiopian banks.
The participants received training on risk assessment and identification, compliance and regulatory framework, credit risk and portfolio management, and crisis management and business continuity.
The interactive nature of the training enabled participants to engage with prominent experts in the field of risk management. The event also provided a platform for networking and knowledge sharing among participants from the various Ethiopian commercial banks.
